Ending a marriage can be very difficult, even when things are amicable and you and your spouse are cooperating with each other. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, fear of the unknown, and very frustrated that things got to this point. You also have to deal with many different changes in your life, the impact on your children, and the impact on your finances. Dozier Law, P.C. Divorce Attorneys in Rincon, Effingham County, Chatham County, Bulloch County, Screven County, and Bryan County, Georgia, will support you through this challenging time in your life.
We will begin with a consultation. A consultation is a meeting to understand your marital history and reasons for seeking a divorce, your financial situation, your family, and your expectations. We will discuss legal options, the process, and next steps. When we begin meeting on your case, we will request a significant amount of information including documents, finances, the history of your relationship, family information, and any other relevant information. We will also determine if the divorce is going to be uncontested or contested.
If the divorce is uncontested, we will put together a Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA), a contract between the spouses that addresses all issues associated with the divorce. This will include the division of assets and property, and if children are involved, child custody, child support and a parenting plan. Alimony will also be addressed.
Dozier Law, P.C. Divorce Attorneys will not hesitate to contest a divorce when we are unable to reach agreement on the terms of the divorce. We will pursue negotiation, at times mediation, and will draft a Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA) if we believe we are close to agreement. We are experienced trial attorneys, and if the MSA cannot be finalized we will not hesitate to take the case to trial.
Whenever possible, Dozier Law, P.C. Divorce Attorneys will pursue a peaceful settlement of the divorce. We will vigorously negotiate on behalf of our client and will pursue mediation when both parties believe this could help and are fully committed to the process. If these things fail to result in an agreement, we will take the case to trial on behalf of our client.
